Investment Management

We help you determine an appropriate Asset Allocation for your portfolio(s).

Sanco Services specializes in Private Portfolio Investment Management and Asset Allocation. We design Diversified Investment Portfolios, based on the classic 5% (maximum) per security model. Our Investment Management Style features the trading of Investment Grade Value Stocks for reasonable, frequently attainable, profits. Positions are taken in well established, profitable companies, held by Institutional Investors. Most portfolios will also have some level of fixed income exposure dependent upon individual circumstances. High Quality long term positions are taken in Fixed Income Securities that can be added to when prices move lower and sold for profit when they move higher. Personal Asset Allocation formulae are strictly controlled using The Working Capital Model. We do not look beyond the New York Stock Exchange for stocks that meet our stringent Quality Requirements for Equity Investments.

Sanco Services is a Private Investment Management Company, able to conduct business anywhere. We prefer to use just one full service brokerage firm to assure that our clients receive the level of service, reporting, and attention that only a large relationship can demand. But full service does not have to mean excessive transaction charges.

We are not interested in becoming too large to trade consistently and effectively, AND we do not include any of the growing list of popular Investment Products in the portfolios we construct for our clients. Investment Manager Steve Selengut sells no investment products, receives no commissions on securities purchases or sales, and absolutely never invests clients' assets in Open End (standard) Mutual Funds or Insurance and Annuity company products.

At Sanco Services, every client account is different from every other account, and Investment Management Fees vary with the size of the total client relationship. Every client, large and small, has direct and personal contact with their Investment Manager, by telephone and e-mail, whenever they have the need.

We try to minimize your risk level by:
  • Buying only NYSE Investment Grade Value Stocks
  • Diversifying conservatively within Asset Allocation buckets
  • Insisting on income from all securities purchased
  • Never using margin debt as a strategy

Every investment manager recognizes the importance of some research! Unlike most, though, we leave that to professionals and rely upon the leader in the field (Standard & Poor's Corporation) to provide us with the fundamental and qualitative inputs we need on a day to day basis. It is our belief that the future, particularly that of the Stock Market and Interest Rates, cannot be predicted... by even the biggest and brightest in the field. Thus, as prudent investors of O. P. M. (Other People's Money), we attempt to minimize portfolio risk by investing only in proven companies.

We focus on things like corporate profits and dividend payment records. We have no tolerance for the "hype", of price predictions and media reports concerning management expectations. Thus, we attempt to eliminate both "greed" and "fear" from the investment equation. We estimate that our average investment management relationship exceeds $350,000 but we enthusiastically welcome portfolios of less than $100,000. We have many relationships in excess of One Million Dollars, and currently (06/09) manage nearly seventy million dollars of Working Capital for approximately 125 clients. Individual relationships range from under $40,000 to several million dollars.

We try to provide a safe investment environment for "Start-Up" portfolios under $40,000 where there is evidence of the discipline needed to add to portfolios regularly. Small portfolios are handled individually, but are generally invested in CEFs.

(Please note that "we" always means "I". There are no committees and only one Investment Manager.)

We manage your Asset Allocation using the Working Capital Model.

Investment Manager Steve Selengut has been interviewed on radio programs throughout the country about his ground breaking Investment Book,"The Brainwashing of the American Investor". The book is a must read for new and experienced investors alike as it explains the disciplines and strategies that have been used by Sanco Services for more than 30 Years. The two clients that were with Sanco Services when it was founded in 1979 are still with the firm today. Sanco Services is happy to provide investment management prospects with references who can answer direct questions with respect to their personal and professional experience with Sanco Services.

Sanco Services is different from most Investment Management Businesses in at least five ways: (1) Investment Manager Steve Selengut is personally available (on call and or by email) for every client, large or small. (2) Every portfolio is different from every other. (3) Sanco Services does not bill for services in advance. (4) Sanco provides prospective clients with references to contact at their leisure. (5) No Open End Mutual Funds are ever purchased for client portfolios.
